Appointments & referrals
Paediatric Appointments
Available with Dr Selvarani (Selvi) Moses, Dr Chuong Huynh, Dr Bastian (Romanie) Rodrigo and Dr Karen VanHaltren.
A referral from your GP or specialist is required.
GP referrals are valid for 12 months; specialist referrals are valid for 3 months.
Paediatric Neurology Appointments
Available with Dr Shabeed Chelakkadan.
A referral from your GP or specialist is required.
GP referrals are valid for 12 months; specialist referrals are valid for 3 months.
Referrals for Mr Shabeed Chelakkadan will be redirected to Neurokids Melbourne
Psychology Appointments
Therapy
Available with Mr Lingdi Zhou and Ms Vaishle Venkipally.
Referrals may be made under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP or paediatrician, or as a private session without a referral.
An MHCP provides 6 rebated sessions to start. If further sessions are needed, a new MHCP from your GP or paediatrician provides an additional 4 rebated sessions — up to 10 per calendar year in total.
Assessments
Available with Mrs Siyan Zhou, Dr Helen Chau, Mr Moses Liu and Dr Gladys Chia.
A referral from your GP or paediatrician is required.
Referrals for Dr Helen Chau, Mr Moses Liu and Dr Gladys Chia will be redirected to Pathways Child Psychology
Please contact us to discuss Medicare rebate eligibility prior to booking.
Play Therapy Appointments
Available with Mr Brendan Lee.
A referral is not required for play therapy, though having one can be helpful background context for your therapist.
Don’t worry if you don’t have a referral yet. We’re happy to help you figure out the next steps first.
The best way to get your child booked in is to give our friendly reception team a call, as they can check availability and guide you through the process straight away. You’re also welcome to email us or fill in our enquiry form and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
If there are no available appointments with your preferred clinician, we can add your child to our waitlist and contact you as soon as a spot becomes available.

Initial Consultation
For first-time appointments with our paediatricians:

ASD Diagnostic Pathway Fees
Some children require multiple appointments as part of their Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnostic assessment. Fees are structured based on Medicare item numbers.

Counselling & Therapy – Vaishle Venkipally

Vaishle accepts both Medicare and private-paying clients.
Neurodevelopmental Assessments – Siyan Zhou
Siyan conducts neurodevelopmental assessments, including assessments for ASD and ADHD.
Medicare rebates may apply under Item 82000.
A full assessment quote can be provided once a referral and clinical question are reviewed.
Families may email the referral to receive a tailored fee estimate based on assessment needs.
Pathways Child Psychology Referrals
For Dr Helen Chau and Mr Moses Liu, all enquiries and appointments are managed through Pathways Child Psychology.
Families will be redirected to their team for fees and bookings.
Rebates & funding
Medicare
Medicare rebates are available for paediatric and psychology appointments with a valid referral. Medicare rebates are not available for play therapy appointments.
We can process your Medicare claims online after your appointment, with rebates typically paid into your nominated bank account with Medicare within 24-48 hours.
You may also be eligible for additional rebates through the Extended Medicare Safety Net (EMSN) once your out-of-pocket costs reach a certain threshold in a calendar year. Visit Services Australia for more information on eligibility and thresholds.
Private Health
Private health insurance generally does not cover outpatient medical appointments. Some funds may provide rebates so please contact your provider to find out what you are covered for.
NDIS
We accept NDIS funding for play therapy appointments.
NDIS funding is not available for paediatric or psychology appointments.
Other third party
We do not process third-party payments directly. However, we are happy to provide you with an invoice so you can submit a claim through your provider.
Medicare Rebates
Rebates are processed after payment is received.
A valid referral is required for all Medicare-rebatable paediatric and psychology services.

Cancellation Policy

Horizon Paediatrics is a private billing practice. Our fees reflect the time, expertise, and individualised care our practitioners dedicate to each child and family. Fees may vary with each consultation depending on the services provided.
Appointments are payable in full at the time of consultation.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please call us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. A cancellation fee applies to missed appointments or cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice.
Future appointments may not be confirmed until any outstanding fees have been settled.
